ML-Series Heavy Duty Solenoid Switch Now Shipping

Blue Sea Systems is shipping the new ML-Series Heavy Duty Solenoid Switch. This innovative solenoid switch uses a magnetic latch (ML) relay—a permanent magnet, not an electromagnet, holds the contacts in position. Therefore, the solenoid switch draws no current in the ON or OFF states. It draws 6 amperes momentarily when changing state. Its ability to switch under load makes it ideal for inverters and other similar applications.

The ML-Series Solenoid Switch has features that are important for high current switching. Its rugged construction has been engineered to withstand the harsh marine environment. Heavy duty, tin-plated copper terminal studs are corrosion resistant, provide exceptional conductivity, and are able to support the weight of large cables. Silver alloy contacts stand up to high current switching over repeated cycles.

This 500 Ampere switch is installed as close as possible to battery banks to minimize long runs of large wire that increase installation cost and can lead to reduced performance. It is operated by a low current switch, sold separately, installed at a safe and convenient location such as the helm near other controls.
