Boat Builders Using Blue Sea Systems' WeatherDeck™ Water Resistant Panels
Blue Sea Systems' WeatherDeck™ Water Resistant Panels

Campion Boats

Campion Boats, Canada's largest boat builder, uses WeatherDeck™ Water Resistant Fuse Panel in its 682 Explorer fishing boats. Campion makes high-tech, high-performance, sport utilities, cruisers, and runabouts. They are committed to quality--to boaters around the world, the name 'Campion' is synonymous with quality.

According to Rob Krushe, electrical engineer at Campion, "We used to make our own panels for our Explorer fishing boat. By switching to the WeatherDeck™, we are saving money, we have less wiring, installation is easier, and the panel is water resistant."

Having a water resistant panel is important in this application. Campion installed the WeatherDeck™ at the rear of the cockpit. Having it there is convenient for fisherman to control bait tanks, lights, pumps, and other devices from the rear of the cockpit instead of having to go up to the dashboard.

Glacier Bay

The latest Glacier Bay model, the 3065 Canyon Runner utilizes Blue Sea Systems' WeatherDeck™ Water Resistant Circuit Breaker Panel. Glacier Bay's 22-foot, 26-foot and the 34-foot catamarans have earned the highest reputation for their unique design, unparalleled performance and matchless construction.

"We are the best and we use the best," observed David Pugh, Glacier Bay's vice president of engineering.

"The reason why we use Blue Sea Systems is that it supplies us with world class conductivity in an offshore marine environment," said Scott Stoner, Glacier Bay's national accounts director. "In other words, Blue Seas keeps our electrical systems up and running through the worst weather and 12-foot waves!"

Application Brief
- Improving marine electrical systems with Blue Sea Systems products
600 Ampere Busbar Negative Tie Point
The 600 Ampere busbar from Blue Sea Systems, PN 2104, is useful as a negative tie point. It has a continuous amperage rating of 600A DC. In addition to the four large stud terminals for high current carrying large wire terminals, it has four screw terminals (two on each end) for low-current, small-wire connections.

In boats with two or more engines and two or more battery banks, use the 600A busbar to tie together engine blocks and battery bank negative terminals. According to American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) rules:
11.5.2.4. "Multiple Engine Installation - If a boat has more than one engine with a grounded cranking motor, which includes auxiliary generator engine(s), the engines shall be connected to each other by a common conductor that can carry the cranking motor current of each of the grounded cranking motor circuits."

Supplying Power to Large Loads
The 600 Ampere busbar from Blue Sea Systems, PN 2104, also is useful for supplying high current to large loads.

When you supply high current to large loads such as a windlass, an inverter, and a DC Main circuit breaker panel, you may want to use a 600A busbar on the positive side of the house battery circuit. Instead of connecting multiple terminals to your battery switch stud, use this high ampacity busbar.

Be sure to include circuit protection. Choose the appropriate fuse or circuit breaker for each application.
