Rocker Panels Now Shipping

Blue Sea Systems continues its innovative design trend with the addition of the new Rocker Circuit Breaker Panels to its line of electrical panels. Designed with a modern look, this modular panel incorporates CE approved, rocker style, single or double pole breakers with red “ON” indicators. A clear display of “power on” is provided, minimizing the possibility of a switch unintentionally being turned on or off. The panel is available with a wide range of options including digital meters, AC or DC voltages, horizontal or vertical configurations, and a variety of circuit breaker positions and labels. The exterior surface is immersion undercoated using a Mil-Spec chemical treatment providing lifetime corrosion resistance. All Blue Sea Systems products are designed and manufactured with a dedication to safety, reliability and quality.

Arctic White Waterproof Circuit Breaker Panels
Now Shipping

These panels are designed for flybridge and open cockpit applications withstanding rain, sea spray, and washdown hose spray. Incorporating a pushbutton circuit breaker with waterproof boot and "On" indicating LED's embedded in the switch, the components are completely sealed and resistant to the effects of a wet environment. They are rated IP-66, "Use on Shipdecks", and are immersion treated using a Mil-Spec Chemical Treatment, protecting every surface detail from corrosion. A two-part polyurethane treatment is used for the Arctic White finish.

ABYC and UL Standards for Wire Marking

Blue Sea Systems was recently contacted by a boatbuilder posing a question regarding ABYC Standards specific to wire insulation jackets. The boatbuilder's harness provider was offering an alternative wire with an unmarked insulation jacket. The boatbuilder wanted to know if this unmarked insulation jacket was acceptable under the ABYC Standards.

To answer this question - The ABYC Standards state that, electrical wire insulation jackets for either AC of DC use must be marked with the following:

1) Wire type and style
2) Voltage
3) Wire Size
4) Temperature Rating Dry

However, because E-8 and E-9, the ABYC AC and DC Standards respectively, require that boat wire conforms to UL 1426, there is an additional marking requirement not explicitly stated in the Standards. UL 1426 also requires two additional markings:

5) Manufacturer Name
6) The words "Boat Cable"

With the exception of the wire itself, Blue Sea Systems designs and manufacturers every component required to complete an entire marine electrical system running between the source of power and the load. Blue Sea Systems' components are designed to safely and reliably connect wires together to form a wiring system that will withstand harsh marine environments.
