Job Description — Production Manager

Job Title – Production Manager
Reports to: Vice President of Operations

Responsible for the direction and coordination of all production operations in Blue Sea Systems manufacturing facility. Manages the selection, training and development of production staff. Oversees day-to-day production schedules, operational and plant activities, and coordinates maintenance and repair of machines to avoid downtime.

Direct responsibilities:

Manage daily production to meet on-time delivery goals
Ensure products are manufactured to our quality standards
Continue the development of Lean Manufacturing principles within the company
Positively motivate staff to effectively and efficiently meet production targets.
Manage new product introduction to manufacturing
Development and coaching of production personnel
Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety requirements

Reports:

This position will have 5 direct reports and 40-60 indirect reports

Qualifications

1. Successful creation of a satisfying, high morale workplace for manufacturing employees
2. Committed to exceptional product quality
3. Proven management of production operations demonstrating continual improvement
4. Experienced with the use of ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
5. Act in an ethical manner, leading by example and earning the respect and trust of co-workers, customers, and suppliers
6. Fluency in fundamental PC based software tools – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and general PC fluency
7. Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, team orientation with strong ability to motivate others
8. Clear understanding of fundamentals of lean manufacturing, pull, and visual systems

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience improving and implementing business processes in a manufacturing environment
2. Application of quality principles and continuous quality improvement to manufacturing
3. Able to manage New Product Introductions to manufacturing
4. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2000 relating to production operations
5. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing management, business management, or operations management
